Wednesday 1 June 2011

Wednesday 1 June 2011
We have nothing planned for today but share time with our host families.  We had a great breakfast and wonderful tea.  I know you probably get tired of me talking about the tea but it is worth talking about.  Today I hope to get caught up with the blog and get some additional pictures posted to the blog also.  The connections are slow so I am having to resize the photos so that I can upload them.  For those who want copies send me an email and I can send you a copy of the original that will print better.
I was working on the computer when I got a call that there would be a water meeting at the church and I explained that we had the meeting on Monday and nothing had changed.  The technician that had built the Bio-Sand was going to be in the meeting.  Simmon the technician was present and he was not happy about the situation with the filter.  He had spent nearly a month constructing the filter and had great pride in the finished filter.  He was unhappy that the church and whoever had chosen to turn off the water to the filter and felt that it had been the wrong thing to do.  He is willing to come to the church and look at the possibility of getting the filter back on line.  He agreed to be there on Thursday morning and he thinks that he can remove and rework the filter.  The filter has a lot of mildew and mole on the sand because the water has been turned off for months.
We went to lunch at The Farmers Inn, Njoro, Kenya with Francis, Francis, Simmon, and Anthony, Jeremiah arranged for us to have a great lunch and have time to talk and discuss everything.  The lunch was very good and after lunch we went to the Borehole and sawmill that Francis owns.  The mill is very busy and the water point that Jane and Kevin operated was backed up with many people waiting for water.  The charge for 20 liters is 2Ksh.  The line forms at 0600 and last until 1900 and it is like that every day.  It is a great service that Francis provides the community.
We had a great dinner and sleep at Francis’s that night and got packed for departure on Thursday.
More later
